Noah Turns 9
Dearest Noah,
You are 9 years old today. It is astounding how quickly the years are going by. How can we already be halfway to 18? Just yesterday you were a chunky little baby- an easy breezy baby boy. Or a crazy toddler trying to keep up with big brother. But here we are and it's the first day of your last year in the single digits.
You were an easy baby- except for the ear infections. You slept well, ate well and were only fussy when your ears hurt. You were our stoic baby, funny to think of now that we thought you'd be our serious child.
At 9 years old, you are far from serious. You are silly and happy, almost constantly. You are kind and gentle- always willing to give away what is yours in order to bless those around you. You challenge me to think more of others myself. You are not the chatter box that your brothers and sister are, you keep things inside more. But you are always observing and listening, even when I think you are not. You best me almost everyday in school, when it looks to me like you are not paying attention, so I start asking you questions and you can answer every one- to perfection!
You are very tall for your age- and very skinny. You are when they call a "bean pole." It makes you clumsy at times, being so tall so quickly! I can't wait to see how tall you will be when you are grown. You played flag football this fall and you had caught an interception and scored a touchdown- a pick six! I'll never forget the look of joy on your face. I wish I had a video.
You love to draw and next week are starting art classes. Who knows where that might take you! It's really great to see you enjoy something that is just yours.
Of course, you also love football and Star Wars and Legos and disc golf, just like your brothers. You don't seem to love reading, yet, but you do love stories and hopefully that will grow into a love of reading one day, too. This past year you grew your hair long- and you loved it. You do have the coolest hair- even your short style is pretty long, and awesome. We went to Disney World this year and had a great time- especially in Hollywood Studios with all the Star Wars stuff. And of course, we all love Harry Potter. Your Draco Malfoy Halloween costume was amazing. You make the perfect Draco in looks, not in attitude!
Noah, you are a joy and a gift to this family. You bring light and a gentleness to our world that we desperately need. I am loving watching you grow up. Your dad and I pray that God will keep working in you as we can already see He is doing. We pray that He would save you and transform you into the image of Christ. He's already given you such a sweet personality and heart, I can't wait to see Him use you for His glory.
We love you, no matter what, forever and ever. Happy 9th Birthday Noah Jackson.
