Snow and a Day at the Zoo

So, this week the weather here was crazy. On Sunday, March 1, it snowed about 2 inches which is a significant amount for Metro Atlanta! We had a wonderful time playing in the snow. Caleb and I built a snowman which he allowed to live long enough for a picture and then he promptly destroyed it! Noah wasn't quite sure how to navigate in all of his bulky clothes and the snow and a couple of time just fell on his face into the snow! Poor Guy!

Then on Friday, March 6, just five days later, we took a trip to the zoo. That's right- on Sunday it snowed and on Friday is was 75 degrees and we went to the zoo! Once again we had a great time. I love our day trips to the zoo because they are totally free since we bought passes- we don't pay for parking and they allow you to bring in your own food so I always pack a picnic lunch for us to enjoy. The boys were great and the animals were all out in force. Noah loved the elephants and kept making his elephant noise as he raised his trunk. Of course Caleb was in charge, telling us where we were going next. We took lots of video and hopefully Jack can get it edited soon so you can all enjoy our day at the zoo with us.

Those are the kind of days I love. Truly, nothing makes me happier than to spend time with my boys- all three of them. Whether in snow or sunny weather! Being their wife and mother is the greatest gift I have ever been given. I know that daily I fail them, but I continue to strive to be who God has called me to be for them. And for me truly this is a calling. I really have no desire to do anything else with my life but love them and take care of them. And come September, there will be another precious life to love! Yes, if you didn't already know it, I am pregnant! I am about 13 1/2 weeks along now and feeling good. Our official due date is September 7- but just as with Noah we will schedule a c-section at about 38 weeks so that will put us having this little one sometime the end of August. We are thrilled! And no, we truly don't care if it is a boy or a girl. I am so blessed to be a mother. That God would allow the miracle of another healthy pregnancy for us is all we want. I promise to update the blog more and keep you updated on the progress of our pregnancy and 0n Caleb and Noah as they grow and change too!

Baby #3 at about 8 1/2 weeks along!

Please join us as we pray for the precious baby I am carrying- for its health and development and that, as we pray for Caleb and Noah, it would come to know the great love the Father lavished on us, by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Truly, I long for my children, all three of them, to know this amazing grace and love and to never doubt it, never turn from it and to serve the One who gives it to us all of the days of their lives!

Caleb Turns 3!

So, the day after we got home from Virginia was Caleb's third birthday! We decided to take him out to lunch anywhere he wanted to go and he chose La Parilla, our favorite mexican restaurant! To our delight, they put a sombrero on his head and sang Feliz Cumplianos!

That night, after dinner we had M&M cookies and he opened his presents from Mommy and Daddy and Aunt Connie. We gave him a basketball goal, which he loves to dunk on. Even his brother got into the action!
Then on Saturday we had his party. We rented a room at a local rec center and park, and we had a Go Diego Go party! All of his little friends came- we had tacos, chips, salsa and cheese dip in honor of Diego's heritage. All of the kids made spotting scopes so they could be animal rescuers just like Diego. Then we went out to the playground to "rescue" some animals that had been hidden by Aunt Stacey and Uncle Andrew (thank you to my friend Shelley for this awesome party game idea!!). The kids loved it! Then we came in for cake and presents. It was a wonderful day!

It is so hard to believe he is already 3 years old. There are time when he tries our patience (as all 3 year olds do!), but he really is such a sweet boy. The other day after I got him settled in his bed for his nap, I grabbed his hamper of dirty clothes to take to the wash.

He said, "Whatcha doin Mommy?"

"Taking your clothes to wash them."

"Oh ok, well just be careful because they are very heavy!"

And for another precious antidote make sure you click on the link to Jack's blog and read about Jesus and Thomas the Train. Truly he is a precious child who fills our lives with joy and laughter. Happy Birthday sweet Caleb! Thanks for 3 wonderful years!

A Trip to Virginia

Well, here we are again! Another month has gone by.... I have such good intentions and yet somehow time gets away from me. Although once you hear about the month of February, you might know why.

We began the month with a long road trip to Warrenton, Virginia, my hometown. I haven't been back there for three years- since Caleb was a baby. And Jack hasn't been back since my parents moved 6 years ago! My very good friend, who I have known forever, Amy Todd was getting married on Valentine's Day. So, the Blankenships, Moffetts and Gaileys made the long trek from Georgia to Virginia. Stacey, Andrew and Hayden found a good deal on plane tickets and decided to fly. So the rest of us loaded up our van and took a road trip! The boys actually did very well, overall. There were moments of meltdowns and potty emergencies when there wasn't an exit for 8 miles, but really they did good.

We left on Thursday, drove to get Mom and Dad and then drove to Dublin, Virginia. We got there around 6:30 pm and everyone was exhausted. We checked into our hotel rooms and sent the men to pick-up McDonalds. As you can see from the pictures below- it was dinner in bed for the boys!

The hotel had an indoor heated pool, so after dinner we swam off some of that pent up energy from all day in carseats! Then the next morning we had about 3 more hours until we reached Warrenton.

We really had a great weekend visiting with old friends. I got to see my best friend Sarah, and her husband Jon, which was a great treat since it has been three years! The wedding was great and the boys had a wonderful time at the "party" (as Caleb called the reception!). Their version of dancing was running and sliding on the dance floor with our good friend Becca's son Brennen! Noah eventually conked out fast asleep in Aunt Connie's arms! And Sunday morning we got back on the road, driving as far as Charlotte, NC before we stopped for the night and enjoyed a dinner at Cracker Barrell and another swim in an indoor pool! It was fun, but we were glad to get out of the car when we got home on Monday!

We came in the room to find Noah in our suitcase! Hayden thought this was funny so when I got the camera out he jumped in there too!

Caleb was quite the ladies man! He got all of the bridesmaids to read him a story!
