The Journey Continues

I am still counting, still looking, still praising. I am still allowing the grace of God to change my heart. It was His cross bearing, blood poured grace that saved me. And it is His moment by moment, blessing by blessing, day by day graces that change me, touch me, teach me, push me. What would my life look like if I took notice of His daily grace? What if I lived in a place of gratitude for all He does and all He gives? How would it change my marriage, my mothering, my kids if I chose joy over bitterness, gratitude over stress, peace over worry? This is my journey, my walk with Him. As He touches and moves, I want to see, to praise. I want to know Him so intimately that I cannot help but see all He does, recognize His every moving. I want my heart to beat with His.

For these things, I praise Him because they are all from Him as everything belongs to Him.

I have a problem

They say that is the first step.....

Admit you have a problem.....

So, I admit it.... I have a problem.....

An addiction really....

I might need help.....

a 12 step program perhaps?......

My mother-in-law is my enabler.....maybe she needs the 12 step program, too.....

My problem, you ask?

I am slightly addicted to hairbows! Ok, so not so slightly... I LOVE THEM! I need them. I think she is adorable in them. And my enabler brought me more this weekend!

What do you think? Is therapy in order?

Two Months Old & Two Years Old

Eden turned two months old yesterday! I can't believe how quickly the time is passing. She is an angel girl for sure. Such a sweet, laid back baby. She is eating well and sleeping even better. I am so thankful for such a sweet baby girl. At two months she is smiling and cooing... I am trying to get a video of her cooing- so sweet. She is eating every 3-4 hours during the day and going 7-8 hours at night. Here are two cutie pictures I took of her yesterday!

Today was her two month well-check at the pediatrician. She weighs 13 lbs. 9 ounces (95%) and is 24 inches long (85%). Dr. Copple said she is great. We've put her on zantac for a bit of reflux that she has and other than that, she's perfect! By comparison her are her brother's stats at the same age: Caleb 14 lbs, 23.5 inches, Noah 14lbs 9 oz., 24 inches, Josiah 14 lbs 8 oz, 25 inches. Here they all are at two months old. We think she looks like Josiah.

Josiah also had his two year well check today. He weighs 30 lbs (75%) and is 34.5 (75%) inches tall. Again Dr. Copple said he looks perfect! By comparison here are the other boys' stats at 2- Caleb 30 lbs & 35 inches, Noah 30 lbs & 36.75 inches. Funny how they all weighed the same! Here are the boys at age 2.

Field Trip

I am loving homeschooling. It was an adjustment those first few days, but once we got a rhythm going it's been smooth sailing. I love watching Caleb learn and he's already amazing me with his ability to comprehend this 1st grade curriculum. I love that Bible is apart of our curriculum and I get to spend time each day memorizing verses with him and learning about the Bible. We've already learned about the Jewish calendar, how the Bible was written on scrolls by scribes, how the Bible is made of 66 smaller books and tomorrow we'll talk about how God is the author of the Bible using human hands to write His words. In the coming weeks he'll learn the names of all 66 books and the Greek alphabet! What a blessing this journey has already been for me.

Labor Day weekend we took our first field trip. We were going to go on Monday, but the weather was calling for rain and so we moved our field trip to Saturday. And of course a field trip is always more fun with friends! The Chambers, our fellow homeschoolers, came with us on our field trip to Windy Hill Apple Orchard. We love the Chambers, as I am sure you can tell from previous posts. They are our family here. In fact, when I was telling one of the college students about Josiah's birthday I said, "We're just having a small party with family." And she said, "And the Chambers." Yes, and the Chambers. And so, of course they came on our first field trip.

We spent the morning at Windy Hill Orchard. There were chickens that the kids got to feed and apparently some baby piggies, too (Jack took the boys to see them). We picked about a bushel of apples. Jack lifted the boys up into the trees to pick them. Then I taught a lesson about trees and we read a book about the seasons of the apple tree. All the kids painted pictures of an apple tree in winter, spring, summer and fall. Messy and fun! We finished up with a picnic lunch with apple cider donuts for dessert (sooooooo yummy! I could have had a dozen!!). It was a fun day!

During the field trip, Phud told us the South Carolina football game was on a channel that they don't get. But we did! So of course Jack and I said, Come on over! Later that night the Chambers descended! The kids had a great time playing while we watched football and I got this great picture of the five big kids on the futon watching a movie. Good times, great friends!

Josiah was not a fan of the chickens!
