Football

The boys are playing flag football this year with the YMCA. They are having an absolute blast. Caleb and Noah are on the same team- the Buccaneers. Josiah is on a team with his friend John David and the coach is our friend as well. They're the Eagles.

The boys are getting a lot of good experience and really loving every moment. It's been a lot of fun watching football with them this year. They are finally understanding the game. Our Auburn Tigers didn't have the season we were hoping for, but it was still a lot of fun to watch with the boys. And our Carolina Panthers are 11-0, so that's been a ton of fun to watch! Clapping and cheering when we make good plays, asking Jack questions about the game, and then heading out to the backyard during halftime to play a little football themselves. Tackle, of course. I love being the mom of boys!

One Season Ends and Another Begins

We finished our Tree of Thanks on Thanksgiving. Every year, during the month of November, we all name what we are thankful for during dinner each evening and then we pray and thank God for these blessings. I love to hear my children pray about the things they are thankful for. We write these gifts on leaves and put them on our Tree of Thanks. This year, I found burlap leaves at Target on clearance! And we used a tree branch for our Tree of Thanks. I love the way it turned out.

And now, standing in the place of our Tree of Thanks is our Jesse Tree, ready for us to begin following the line of Jesse to the Messiah throughout December. If you don't know what a Jesse Tree is, you can see this post which has links to our Jesse Tree from years past. I've also written a Jesse Tree devotion for families with young children to use. If you want a copy, comment with your email address and I'll be happy to send you one!

We also decorated the house during the past few days. We always cut our own tree each year which is a fun tradition. We got a huge Christmas tree which makes my heart happy. It actually broke the tree stand and we had to go get another one! Oops! But I love it! Last year we did minimal decorating because we were still unpacking, so this year was a lot of fun decorating our new house. Did I mention my house has 2 mantles inside and one on the back porch?!?! So fun!

Halloween 2015- The Force was with us

This year, our Halloween them was Star Wars. We already had a Darth Vader costume, Nana made us a Princess Leia dress and I did Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. They looked awesome.

Jack has been watching the movies with the boys and they are super into it. Caleb was Han Solo, Noah was Luke Skywalker, Josiah was Darth Vader and Eden was Princess Leia. I had to talk Eden into it. She said she wanted to be a princess, and I said, "But she IS a princess." She was not convinced until I told her she got to carry a blaster. "I get a gun?!?!" OK!"

While we walked around trick or treating, Jack played the theme from Star Wars on our bluetooth speaker. It was so awesome to have a soundtrack for our costumes!

We made it to 6!

Dearest Josiah,
Happy 6th birthday buddy! What a joy you are to this family. Today at lunch, we shared 6 things we love about Josiah for his 6th birthday. Eden loves that you read to her. Caleb and Noah love that you are silly. Mommy and Daddy love that you are funny and smart. And we all love that you give the best hugs.

All of those things are true about you Josiah Robert! You are so silly and funny. You keep us laughing. I remember one night this summer eating dinner on the back porch and we had the Disney playlist playing for our dinner music. When "Let It Go" came on, you just stood up and started lip syncing. It was hilarious! So naturally hilarious.

And you are so very smart. You started Kindergarten this year, but we skipped right up to 1st grade. You amaze us with the way you read so well already! And you are a whiz at math. Sometimes when we are driving down the road, you just say from the back seat, "Hey Mommy! 5+5 is 10!" You love school and that makes me so happy. You look forward to it everyday.

You do give the best hugs. Truly the best. I am so thankful you still love to snuggle. You and Eden have a love/hate relationship for sure. It's either hot or cold. But when you two are getting along, it's the most precious thing to watch. You giggle, you hug, you have such fun. And when you mess up and have to ask forgiveness from your sister or brothers, you never leave it without a hug. I love that about you.

I was so proud of you this summer. You conquered your fear of swimming. In April, you were still petrified to be in the water without your vest on, even though you could swim. And by the end of the summer you passed the swim test for the deep end and went down the deep end slides! I was so proud of you!!

Josiah, this family would not be the same without you in it. We are so thankful everyday that God gave you to us. Sometimes Daddy and I joke that it'll be a miracle if you make it to 18 because you are so crazy, but this family needs your crazy. We pray that God will draw you to himself and that you would fall in love with Jesus. And we pray that He will use your outgoing, happy, affectionate spirit to change the world. We love you so much. Happy Birthday!

We love you, no matter what, forever and ever!
