Easter

Man has sinned but God has saved,
You rose and overcame the grave
At the death of death where love and justice kiss
We were born to sin, only You forgive
In Your final breath grace and mercy win
At the death of death, You died and rose again

Jack's mom made the dress and bow..... amazing, right? She looks so beautiful!

When I forget gratitude....

I don't know what to title this post. Forgotten gratitude. Missed thanks. Repentant heart.....

I haven't been counting. I let life get in the way. I stopped paying attention. I started looking at me instead. Oh, I was still grateful from time to time. I still whispered the occasional thankful prayer. I still found joy in moments, in laughter, in smiles, in life. But I didn't trace those gifts back to the giver. And I can tell the difference. If I had to state the overall feelings I've had in the past few months they'd be: irritable, frustrated, overly-emotional, impatient, snippy. I know it's because I've stopped living each moment with purpose- the glory of the One who made that moment. I've been wasting those moments. They've been redeemed, bought by the cross and now they have such deep an eternal purpose. Every thing I have, see, feel, experience is a chance to glorify God. Or a chance to waste.

This counting of gifts, of grace, it's not a magic pill. Doing it doesn't mean that everything is suddenly perfect. It means that I am redeeming the mundane, giving purpose to the happiness and to the pain, and doing what I was made to do- worship the Giver. It means that my focus is not on me and that makes my days more full of joy. It means that my heart is ordering things rightly. It means that the sovereignty of God is the source of my peace, and joy, and life. It means I can laugh at hard days and smile in the pain, because nothing is outside of His hand, and He is working everything together for my good, and He is making me more like Christ and it's all undeserved grace anyway. I want it to be the breath of  my life- the natural in and out of my day- this giving of thanks to God, this acknowledgment of His goodness, grace, power, grandeur, redemption.

Thanks be to God for His marvelous gifts over the past few months.....

Hymnal

Hey friends! I wanted to share with you a great new album written, recorded, and performed by our friends here in Rock Hill. Most of them are musicians from our worship band at Remedy Church, including our Worship Leader, Ben, and Jack's intern at the BCM, Owen Eddy. The have written 5 new arrangements to old hymns that are just awesome. Jack and I love it. But here's the best part.... because these guys are so generous and Gospel centered, they have offered to donate ALL of the proceeds from the sale of the album from now to the end of May to BCM Missions! How great is that!?!? You really should download the album, because it's sooooo good and because you will be supporting missions! And pass it on to your friends. You can get it on Amazon and iTunes. Search Remedy Collective Hymnal or click on these links- Amazon or iTunes

No Training Wheels!!!

Today, we finally had time and nice weather to teach Caleb how to ride his bike without training wheels. Turns out, he didn't actually need any teaching. Jack got him going down the driveway and he never looked back. He literally just took off on two wheels and rode down the street. Thought the grandparents might love to see him in action. About halfway through, you can hear Jack say, "Stop talking so much and pay attention to riding!" That's my chatterbox! Telling a story with a million details while learning to ride a bike. Way to go Caleb!

Pinspiration

I love Pinterest. It's such a great way to find new recipes, projects, crafts, ideas and keep them all organized. But if I am not careful, I find that I pin a lot and don't actually do anything with what I pinned. What's the point in incessantly pinning things that I am never going to do? So, I thought as a was of inspiring us all to get started on some of those Pinterest ideas, I am sharing some of my pins that I've actually done and liked!

  • The two-sided desk/bookshelf

This pin didn't actually lead to plans or even a description once I clicked on it. But the picture was enough to inspire the desk that Jack made for our schooling this year. I am so glad I found this idea on Pinterest!

  • The Tree of Thanks

This pin inspired our Tree of Thanks that we have done during the month of November for the past 2 years. I absolutely love it!!

  • Infinity Scarf

I used this tutorial to make infinity scarfs for three very special ladies for Christmas this year. My Aunt Connie, and the two girls who let me pretend to be young and cool with them, Ruth and Devyn.

  • Father's Day Gift

This pin was the inspiration for our Father's Day gift for Jack last year. It turned out great!

  • Jar of Fun

I made a Jar of Fun for our family last summer that was great fun! I had planned to make a Winter version, but never got to it. Maybe next Winter. But we will definitely be pulling the Jar of Fun back out this Summer!

  • Swiffer Wetjet Refill

This is very possibly my favorite Pinterest find- how to refill your swiffer wetjet and not keep buying the expensive Swiffer solution! I do not use the cleaner they suggest in the post, because I really love the scent of Murphy Oil Soap, so I refill mine with warm water and 3 capfulls of Murphy Oil soap! It works like a charm!!

  •  DIY Firepit

Jack and I used this to make our own fire pit in the backyard last fall. It turned out great. Can't wait to use it this Spring and Summer!

  • DIY Storage Bins

Although these turned out nice, they were not actually very cheap because fabric is expensive, y'all!! But the reason they made my list here is that they were the first thing I made on my yardsale find sewing machine- my first time using a sewing machine since I was like 13. So, because they gave me the courage to trying sewing they made the list. And if you are like my mother-in-law and have tons of fabric then they'd be really cheap to make!

So, there you go! A few things I've made from Pinterest that I am so happy I found there! I'll have to do another post for recipes, because there are quite a few of those that I love. And be on the lookout. Coming this Spring and Summer we'll be doing some kids' bedroom work inspired by pinterest finds! Now, go get busy putting some of those pins into action!
