Reading Corner

We are officially done with our first year of homeschooling!! Caleb did great and we really enjoyed our year together. He is such a great reader and has really excelled in that area. But he surprised me with his complete ease with math... we even did a 1st grade math curriculum for our kindergarten year and he flew through it with ease. He ended up the year with a 99% in math and reading on a second grade level.

Since we are done with school, I did a little rearranging in the playroom to make room for a reading corner this summer. I want Caleb and Noah to have a comfy, fun place to sit and read in the afternoons this summer. Here are two of my favorite pics so far of our reading corner.

Snaggle Tooth

You may have noticed in our vacation pictures that Caleb has lost his first tooth. The night before we left for vacation it came out.... well actually, Mom pulled it out! It was soooooo loose and I was afraid it would come out while he was asleep, so I convinced him to just let me give it a little twist and out it came! He put it in the little pillow Nana gave him and put it under his pillow. He woke up to 4 quarters the next morning! The tooth right next to it is very loose, too, so I don't think it will be long before the kid has trouble eating!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day this year was spent at the beach which was wonderful! The boys made me breakfast and had fun hiding all day and then jumping out yelling "Happy Mother's Day!" So cute!

Before we left for the beach, I did get some sweet gifts. Noah made me this butterfly at school which now hangs in my kitchen window.

And Josiah made me this bookmark to keep in my books.

And Jack got me this beautiful ring with all of the kids' birthstones in it. I love it!

But nothing was a better gift than a week away with my loves. I love being a mommy so much and while a day to celebrate me is nice, what I really love to do is celebrate the incredible blessings that are my husband and my children. My cup overflows with love, joy and most of all gratitude.

Vacation Gratitude

We just returned home from a wonderful week long vacation. We've never been able to afford an entire week away, but thanks to God's grace towards us and an awesome "coincidence" we were able to this year. And what a wonderful week it was... full of His many gifts.
